Goal 13: Climate action

Goal 13 is about urgently combating climate change and its impacts.

Today:
The amount of greenhouse gases continues to rise, and climate change is happening faster than anticipated. The effects of climate change are visible worldwide. The global average temperature has increased by about 1°C since pre-industrial times, and sea levels continue to rise. The poorest are the most affected. Countries have submitted national plans for reduction, but they are not comprehensive enough.

What is needed?
Climate change is a global issue that knows no national borders. It is crucial to limit the increase in the average temperature to 1.5°C if the world wants to avoid catastrophic consequences in the future. We need to find global solutions in various areas. In addition to reducing emissions and capturing and storing CO2, there must be increased investment in renewable energy, new industrial systems, and changes in infrastructure. Furthermore, we must invest in protecting, adapting to, and mitigating the extent of the damage.
